Two Generals Guarding Xi'an

In April 1926, in order to expand his sphere of forces, one of the Northern Warlords Wu Peifu sent the west Henan Zhensong Army leader Liu Zhenhua to lead a hundred thousand soldiers to besiege Xi’an. The National Army generals Yang Hucheng and Li Huchen led all soldiers and civilians in the city to fight back stalwartly, defending Xi’an with their lives. It was not until November 28th of that year that when Feng Yuxiang and Yu Youren led reinforcements to Xi’an, Xi’an’s siege was finally lifted after the city having been besieged for 8 months. However, the number of casualties was extremely high. Nearly 50,000 soldiers and civilians died tragically, accounting for 1/4 of Xi’an’s population. Today Xi’an’s Revolution Park still preserves the Ten Thousand People’s Tomb where the martyrs rest in peace. The large scale movie and television special effects real-scene performance Two Generals Guarding Xi’an uses high-technology stage art scenes to let audiences experience the impressive audiovisual effect of war at zero distance. It re-presents the valiant, united and undaunted spirit of the central Shaanxi people. The performance field covers an area of 10,000 m2. 1800 spectators can be accommodated and 120 professional performers will perform. The 45-minute performance is held twice a day during weekdays and 3 times a day over weekends.
